It’s quite a wild ride those pieces of wood that form a hand carved hardwood puzzle box, keychain, or animal puzzle go on before they can end up as one of the most cherished items in your home. Let’s think through it.
It starts off with a single seed, a little seed that takes root in the ground. Over the years, the water, sun, and nutrients in the soil nourish and grow the tree that sprouted from that little seed, helping it tower over the earth. Then one day, the tree is cut down. It is cut into lumber that will be made into so many products people need in their lives.
In the case of some of that lumber, it goes to the famous Vietnamese furniture industry and is carved into the chairs, tables, bed frames, dressers, and all the other pieces of furniture people keep in their homes and offices. Some of the wood that is not used then heads for the scrap pile, and sadly that’s the end of the journey for lots of wood, which will then be burned for heat or cooking or will be simply discarded.
But this is where we come in. We make all of our handmade carved wooden gift products from the wood scraps left over after the furniture making process. We save wood that would have been tossed or burned and hand carve pieces of various types of hardwood, then assemble them into the lovely and unique products we offer for sale through Timbertreasure.
